The REACT Foundation Award 2016 Winners

The Beacon, Whitehaven hosted the annual presentation of the 2016 Awards. Ex Cockermouth student Adam Kirkwood received the Foundation's top prize, the £3,000 Bursary Award. Adam, who is heading to the University of York to study an MEng in Computer Science said "By studying computer science, I hope to take part in future developments and advancements of technology, and be a creator rather than a user".

Rachael Vatter, also from Cockermouth School picked up the IMechE West Cumbria Bursary Award of £1,000. Rachael is heading to Loughborough University to study Mechanical Engineering.

Students from Beacon Hill School, Cockermouth School, Energy Coast UTC, Keswick School, Nelson Thomlinson School, St Joseph's School and Workington Academy all picked up A level Bursaries of £200 per student.
