REACT Foundation - I Can Too Programme

Working in partnership with Inspira, the Foundation enrols students in Year 9 encouraging them to make the best of their abilities and to achieve their potential and to inspire further study of maths and science subjects at a higher level post year 11 – through whatever route is chosen – recognising the growth in local and national career opportunities in all areas of engineering.

Each half term there are exciting, inspiring and fun activities showing the application of maths and science in a work setting together with one to one mentoring support available from Inspira encouraging hard work and congratulating effort and achievement.

There are no costs to parents/carers/schools and engagement with parents and teaching staff are encouraged at regular intervals. The students experience evening events, day trips and an end of year residential trip whilst in Year 10 and 11.

Generally, the group has one trip or visit per half term varying from evening to day visits with an end of year residential trip, normally Manchester with the group experience life on campus. Students have experienced campus days (including University of Cumbria on sports science, University of Manchester as part of the residential, and National College for Nuclear experiencing the virtual reality suite). There are also a variety of visits and talks on such things as Formula 1 Motorsport and R&D laboratories and engineering /science businesses.
