About the Foundation

Registered Charity No: 1104518

The REACT Foundation was originally conceived in 2004 to encourage West Cumbrian students to attend university to study an engineering related degree. This initially involved a prize for one student heading off to university, but has now extended to include prizes for year 11 students planning on going to sixth form to study science or engineering related subjects, or to college to study for a Level 3 Diploma in STEM. We also offer a series of Science shows and workshop for students each year (see Awards and Science Shows pages for more details).

The Foundation was registered with the charity commission in May 2004 and initially set up with a £5,000 donation from REACT Engineering Limited. Since then, further donations by REACT Engineering Limited and a substantial grant of £30,000 have been received from the West Cumbria Development Fund. REACT Engineering Limited has maintained its commitment to donate to the Foundation each year providing the company is profitable.

The trustees continue to seek further donations to support their work.
