Foundation Trustees

Pete Woolaghan, Chairman

Pete is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers). Since 1994, he has worked for REACT Engineering as one of the founding directors. Pete previously worked for UKAEA undertaking engineering consultancy work and before that in the automotive industry for Jaguar Cars. He is also a director of R3i and CREATEC.


Trevor Craig, Trustee

Trevor has a PhD in Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Industrial Management. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IMechE. Trevor has previously worked for Vickers Shipbuilding & Engineering

Ltd on nuclear submarine design and as a project manager for UKAEA. Trevor has worked for REACT Engineering since 1994 as one of the founding directors. He is also a director of R3i and CREATEC. 


Kayleigh Daniels, Trustee

Kayleigh joined REACT Engineering in 2014 as a Senior Consultant after a number of years with Network Rail in both the Asset Information and Corporate and Regulatory Reporting Team. A former St Benedict’s student, Kayleigh is keen to promote science and engineering, raising its profile with the young people of West Cumbria. As a STEM Ambassador, she regularly runs activities, which are aligned with existing national programmes such as CREST Awards, First Lego League or other STEM events.


Tom Durcan, Trustee

Tom graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2009 with a Masters in Astrophysics, and then moved to Cumbria to join the Sellafield Graduate Scheme, during which time he completed a second Masters in Project Management for Engineering. He initially worked in Decommissioning, but has also spent time working in Infrastructure, Projects and Construction. He is currently working on the strategy for the delivery of future Major Projects at Sellafield. 


Steve Knight, Trustee

Steve has over 25 years engineering experience in the nuclear industry supplemented by 8 years working in the construction industry for Laing Construction. Since 1994, Steve has worked for REACT Engineering as one of the founding directors. He is also a director of R3i and CREATEC.


Ian Lupton, Trustee

Ian was the Director of Engineering at St Benedicts School before retiring. He is a member of the West Cumbria IMechE and is enthusiastic in the promotion of engineering locally in West Cumbria. He has been involved with the Smallpiece Residential Courses, Grow Your Future Workforce projects, Engineering Scholarships and has links with both primary and secondary schools.


Mike Priestley, Trustee

Mike is Area Manager for Inspira in West Cumbria and has held this role since its inception, as Connexions Cumbria in 2001, previously managing careers guidance services in the area. Mike has more than 30 years experience in careers and youth support and has overseen a significant reduction in NEET rates amongst young people in the patch. He is currently Chairman of the Management Board for West Cumbria Learning Centre (Pupil Referral Unit), a Governor at Lakes College, a board member with North Country Leisure, a trustee for the Whitehaven Harbour Youth Project, a member of the West Police Independent Advisory Group, a trustee of the Copeland Rugby League Community Development Foundation and Chairman of the Whitehaven Miners Social Football Club coaching their u-18s.
